An "ecumenical" school at Liverpool” “

A secondary school jointly promoted by the Anglican and Catholic Churches is due to open in Liverpool in September 2005. It is expected to be attended by some 900 pupils. Situated in the city’s Kensington/Fairfield district, the new “ecumenical” school will accept students from every area of the city and, as a press release of the Liverpool diocese points out, “will complement the already existing Catholic secondary school”. Apart from providing an education founded on the Christian faith, the new school aims to sensitise children especially on environmental issues, beginning with the plans for the building itself: it is conceived to be integrated with the landscape, and entails the use of traditional materials combined with innovative energy-saving techniques.
