BENEDICT XVI: TO COLOMBIAN BISHOPS, “CLOSE TO KIDNAP VICTIMS, POOR, MIGRANTS” (2)
“This is – he explained – about being better believers, more pious, kind and accepting, in our parishes and in our communities, not to make anyone feel distant or left out”. So, “the catechesis needs to be improved, with a special focus on young and adults, the sermons need to be carefully prepared, and the teaching of the Catholic doctrine needs to be promoted in schools and universities”. According to the Pope, it is also important to make reference to “the ecclesial tradition, increase Marian spirituality, and promote a rich devotional diversity”. In addition, “serene, open exchanges with the other Christians must be promoted, without losing one’s identity”, so as to “improve relations and overcome mutual mistrust and useless fighting”.
