The famous Copacabana beach is the place chosen to receive Benedict XVI on his arrival in Brazil, on 25th July 2013, for the World Youth Day due to take place in Rio de Janeiro from 23rd to 28th July 2013. This has been revealed to the Brazilian press by the archbishop of Rio de Janeiro and president of the Local Organising Committee (Col), mgr. Orani João Tempesta, who, during a press conference this morning, is going to announce which places have been selected to host the Pope’s events during the WYD. In Copacabana, where big meetings in Rio have always traditionally taken place, will also host the ceremony for the arrival of the young on 23rd July and the Way of the Cross on 26th July. The place chosen for the Vigil on Saturday 27th and the final Mass on Sunday is the airbase of Santa Cruz.
