Among the many activities deployed by the Pontifical Council for the Family (Pcf) in the run-up to the World Meeting due to take place in Milan from 30th May to 3rd June (www.family2012.com), card. Ennio Antonelli, president of PCF, mentioned in particular the preparatory Catecheses translated into 11 languages, including Rumanian, Arab and Russian. The press conference held in the Vatican this morning offered an opportunity to officially present the “Enchiridion of the Family”, which, as the cardinal explained, “contains the latest teachings of the Apostolic See about the family and human life. The documents put together concern the last years in John Paul II’s papacy and the latest ones in Benedict XVI’s papacy, from 17th May 2005 to 31st December 2011”. It is “a useful reference tool” for “people working in the family pastoral service, for associations, pro-family and pro-life movements, experts, lecturers, politicians”. According to card. Antonelli, “the range of issues it deals with is extremely wide”; to mention just a few: theology and anthropology of the family, education to love and preparation to marriage, support to married couples and marital spirituality, inter-religious marriage, birth control.
