UKRAINE: A SERIES OF MEETINGS ON “DEMOCRATIC VALUES OF STUDENT YOUTH”
(Sir Europe - Bratislava) - The Justice and Peace Committee of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) organizes a series of meetings, roundtables and open lectures entitled “Democratic values of student youth”. The events, due to begin in the next few weeks, will be held in various cities of Ukraine. Among the guests will be well-known European experts and the target audience will include students, members of various public and Christian organizations and representatives of the Committee’s secretariat. “The establishment of democratic values and culture envisages acquiring an appropriate knowledge and a habit to think in a democratic way by all members of society, which, in its turn, requires profound understanding of the essence of democracy, rights and possibilities and also responsibilities imposed in this regard on each citizen”, explains Mykhailo Melnyk, the head of the Committee. According to his words, the initiative aims not only to draw the attention of young people to current problems but also to invite them “to participate in the process of creating true values for the development of a healthy society”.
