(Sir – Europe) - Forum for life, associating more than 40 pro-life organizations, is going to submit a written appeal to the newly elected members of the National Council of the Slovak republic, to use their mandates in favour of protection of the basic human right regarding the life of all conceived and yet unborn children. This initiative falls into frame of the national campaign due to culminate on 25 March – the Day of conceived child. “Public opinion influences the will of legislators to change things and vice versa. It’s important that the situation of vulnerable conceived children improves on both civil and legal levels”, explains the executive director of the Forum for life, Marek Michalcik. According to the survey this organization performed last autumn, 25% inhabitants of Slovakia think that artificial abortion should be permitted for any reason. More than 53% respondents believe it should be allowed only under serious circumstances and 16% expressed opinion that it shouldn’t be permitted at all. “Our legislation, allowing abortions without obligation to state the reason not only doesn’t protect the life of conceived children but it doesn’t even reflect attitude of inhabitants of the country”, adds Marek Michalcik. 20/03/2012 -
