09:22 - UKRAINE: UGCC, NATION-WIDE PILGRIMAGE TO ROME TO BE HELD IN OCTOBER

(Sir Europe - Bratislava) - A nation-wide pilgrimage of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) to Rome will take place on 13-15 October 2012. The website of the UGCC in Italy published an address of apostolic visitator for Ukrainian Catholics in Italy and Spain, Dionisii Liakhovych, who invites the faithful to discover the Church in the “center of Christianity”, pray with the head of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk, greet Pope Benedict XVI and “support the Ukrainian immigrants in Italy with prayers”. The pilgrimage in the year of commemoration of the 120th anniversary of birth of patriarch Josif Slipyj, organised by the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, will be dedicated to the consecration of the renewed Cathedral of St. Sophia in Rome.
