BENEDICT XVI: REGINA CÆLI, “MAY YOUNG PEOPLE BE EDUCATED IN VALUES”
“Thanks be to God for this exemplary daughter of the land of Mexico, which I recently had the pleasure to visit and which I always keep in my heart”, Benedict XVI said following the Regina Cæli prayer in St. Peter’s Square yesterday morning (click here), recalling last Saturday’s beatification in Mexico of María Inés Teresa of the Most Blessed Sacrament, foundress of the Poor Clare Missionary Sisters of the Most Blessed Sacrament. “It is important for young people to be educated in values, besides scientific and technical knowledge. For this reason Father Gemelli founded the Catholic University, which I hope will not only be able to keep up with the times, but will also remain faithful to its origins”, the Pope went on to say, recalling the Day of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart - celebrated yesterday in Italy - whose theme this year was “The future of the country in the heart of young people”. Then the Pontiff sent a warm greeting in Italian to young participants in the pilgrimage organised by Unitalsi “Children on peace mission”.
